The battery system has also passed China's upcoming 2026 national safety standards well ahead of schedule.
The commercial reception of the IM L6 has exhibited the dual characteristics of "starting strong before cooling down" alongside "solid product fundamentals constrained by marketing challenges." Following its 2025 launch, pre-orders for the all-new IM L6 quickly crossed the 30,000-unit mark, yet actual delivery conversion fell short of expectations. Industry sales data indicates that IM Motors delivered 81,017 vehicles across its lineup in 2025 (including the L6 and LS6), fulfilling approximately 80% of its initial 100,000-unit full-year target. The L6 recorded monthly deliveries of 2,635 and 3,255 units during its initial June–July 2025 window before retreating to 2,082 units by September—trailing significantly behind the competing Xiaomi SU7, which achieved 22,897 monthly deliveries over the same period.
Automotive industry analysts attribute this performance gap to several factors: IM Motors' brand equity and public awareness still lag behind prominent rivals like Li Auto, Tesla, and Xiaomi; its positioning wavered between a "high-tech performance sedan" and an "urban lifestyle fashion item", muddying its core value proposition; and deficiencies in marketing outreach and showroom network coverage hindered the offline customer experience, fostering a wait-and-see attitude among prospective buyers. In terms of user feedback, the IM L6 has earned praise for its engaging driving dynamics, refined chassis composure, and tech-rich cabin, though sporadic complaints have emerged regarding infotainment software stability, minor electronic niggles, and aftersales service turnaround times. Overall, underpinned by standout assets like the Lizard Digital Chassis, rear-wheel steering, 800V platform, and mapless NOA capability, the IM L6 establishes a distinctive technical edge in the RM200,000-range EV executive segment; converting these engineering merits into steady, long-term sales volume remains IM Motors' primary objective.
